Milton · Wards 1 & 2

A practical voice
for Milton families.

Milton families deserve public schools that are focused, excellent, transparent, and worthy of the trust parents place in them.

Andrew Wood, candidate for Halton District School Board Trustee in Milton Wards 1 and 2

Why I’m Running

Restoring confidence.
Raising standards.

I’m running because Milton families deserve a school board that listens carefully, communicates clearly, and keeps its focus on students.

Public schools work best when they are built on trust between parents and teachers, students and schools, communities and decision-makers.

I’m not running to create more division. I’m running to offer Milton families a thoughtful, steady, and practical voice at the table—one committed to academic excellence, transparency, fairness, and preparing students for life beyond the classroom.

The Issues

What Milton’s schools should prioritize.

Academic excellence

Reading, writing, math, science, history, geography, critical thinking, communication, and practical life skills should remain central. Strong education gives students the tools to understand the world and pursue opportunity with confidence.

Parents as meaningful partners

Parents know their children best. Families deserve clear communication about what is being taught, how values-based topics are handled, and how decisions are made. Reasonable questions should be welcomed and answered with respect.

Healthy classrooms and supported teachers

Teachers should be equipped and respected so they can focus on strong instruction, student development, and healthy classroom environments—not continually carry responsibilities that pull them away from teaching.

Fairness, merit, and high standards

Every student deserves dignity, support, and opportunity. Schools should recognize effort, develop skill, encourage responsibility, and help students rise to meaningful expectations rather than lowering them.

Respectful pluralism and common ground

Milton is diverse. Students should learn how to think—not simply what to think—and how to pursue truth, listen carefully, reason well, speak respectfully, and live responsibly with people who hold different beliefs.

Technology that serves learning

Phones, screens, social media, online platforms, and AI are changing childhood quickly. Schools need balanced policies that protect focus, relationships, mental health, online safety, and the development of real-world skills.

The Kind of Trustee Andrew Will Be

Thoughtful. Accessible. Steady.

Andrew will listen to parents, students, teachers, and community members with respect. He will ask clear questions and do the work of reading, learning, and understanding issues before making decisions.

He will not pretend every problem has an easy answer. He will bring transparency, fairness, academic seriousness, practical wisdom, and a determination to take concerns seriously without inflaming division.
